Dear STREAM Families,

 

Welcome to STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)! We are excited that your student can be a part of our program. This will be a fun and challenging class that we hope students will find both rewarding and engaging.

 

You may be already aware of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs in schools. Due to increased need in the workforce for jobs in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math, there has been an increased investment in STEM initiatives in schools.  While these initiatives are a wonderful start into the exploration of these four areas of study, we believe that jobs of the future will require so much more than an understanding of these areas – it requires application, creation and ingenuity. STREAM is a way to take the benefits of STEM and complete the package by integrating these principles in and through reading and the arts.  

Students in STREAM will actively work to solve problems, take ownership of their learning, and apply content in real-world contexts. Skills like collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving are parts of the STREAM educational framework.
